The year 12’s did their Drama Exam on Monday the 18 of May. The exam is under a new format this year and as a consequence all pupils have to perform a one or two handed scene from a recognised playwright as well as a full play.
We kicked off with the scenes element of the exam because this is what the pupils seemed most nervous about. Each and every one of them gave their best performances by far, really excelling expectation.
The second half of this festival of theatre was an hour long production of ‘Teechers’ by John Godber. The play is a fast paced yarn set in a deprived school ‘somewhere in England’. The pupils were all asked to play many different characters in a performance that took elements from Brechtian theatre tradition. The ensemble cohesiveness of the performance was its main success and the pupils really proved what a strong unit they are.
