Arts Week 09 PDF Print E-mail
Lastterm saw our third whole school Arts Week. Evaluations on the week are complete and the overwhelming story is that it was a success. From the staff’s point of view it was an opportunity to spend time with students in different environments working on different projects and activities. Staff commented on the value of working cross-curricular, using acting and other Creative Arts techniques. Pupils have been very positive, enjoying the theatre experiences enormously as well as, again, the opportunity to work in a different way. Some of the activities particularly mentioned by pupils as being valuable were the Human Rights activities and the anti-smoking presentation and workshops! Both staff and pupils would like to see more trips and we will bear this in mind when planning this year’s Arts Week although, as always, Arts Week is an extremely costly activity and the £20 parental contribution by no means covers the cost of the week. We are extremely grateful for our Arts College status in having the opportunity to provide such a diverse and exciting end to the term.
