Thank you to David Coster at Valence School for inviting CDS to be part of Valence’s whole school Arts Week. CDS pupils were able to experience a range of performing arts workshops including one with a cast member from the hit West End musical ‘Joseph’ and with the dance company ‘Candoco’ where our pupils were privileged to be working alongside Valence pupils and pupils from the BRIT School in choreographing work for the able bodied and physically disabled.
The workshops were followed at the end of the week with a concert where our pupils performed with pupils from Valence as well as providing some additional musical items. CDS Media and Photography pupils documented the week on film and in photographs. Thanks also to Art and Photography who were able to provide work for Valence to display in their entrance hall and around the school.
We are greatly looking forward to working with Valence again, pupils from Valence have attended both of our production matinees and are involved in our ‘Blastbeat’ project and we are delighted to have been invited to be part of their Arts Week again this year.
All of our pupils involved found the experience stimulating and enlightening – Riki Menelaws described it as ‘life changing’ and Valence staff were particularly complementary about our pupils’ involvement. Thanks to them:
Riki Menelaws, Martyn Payne, Daniel Otto, Phil Jones, Lianne Vincent, Robin Muir, Ben Lockwood, Daniel Stephens, Anders Hayward, Stevie Ashton and Freya Nelson as well as Media students.
