Blastbeat Ltd.
Blastbeat is an award winning music and multimedia business programme offered to secondary students in schools internationally. The programme aims to teach business and entrepreneurial skills, promote young musicians and bands and to create a global youth community with a share interest in reducing world poverty and helping the environment.
Blastbeat is the educational branch of the Blastbeat.tv Network; an online and offline youth community of musicians and music lovers who meet regularly at Blastbeat Live music events and online on the creative and social network Blastbeat.tv. Blastbeat regions currently include Ireland, Belgium, South Africa, UK, Slovakia and the US (in New York, LA, Austin and Chicago).
With Blastbeat, teenagers organize themselves in Music and Multimedia Companies (MMCs), with each member of the company taking on a different job role. These include CEO, Sales and Marketing Manager, Talent scout, IT Manager, Mutlimedia Manager, Photographer and Journalist to name but a few.
The main challenge for the MMC is to organize and produce their own live music event. They do this by finding the best original music talent in their local areas and showcasing them. Winning bands are selected by a panel of industry professionals and progress to the Finals in their region. The winning act receives a trip to the world final to compete with other regional winners for the highly conveted prize of a record deal with Blastbeat.tv.Records.
Year 10 Student Voice at Charles Darwin School have taken up the Blastbeat challenge as one of their charity fundraising initiatives. Their enthusiasm is infectious and they are currently working on their roles within their company, Musical Mindz Enterprize (spelt with a “z” as they intend to win the “prize” for their chosen charity!).
